GRAMPA'S WINGS
Grampa's Wings is a tender, true story of Love before, during, and after life. The “children’s book" by DonnaMarie Porpora (Fekete) was whimsically illustrated by Alan Margolis to be shared across all age groups. The author believes that, when we begin any discussion about death, “It’s good to begin sharing what we love best about our life.” In the book, Grampa explains that his relationship with his granddaughter will continue after he dies: he will become her personal angel. While she may be sad and miss him, she should continue to enjoy life, because “angels fly higher when children laugh.” The book includes a worksheet for readers to create their own angelography, a story of someone they loved. The author also includes some notes on her personal experiences and coaching practices for balancing life and love throughout the grieving process. Signed copies of the book are available ($20 including postage) by request using the button below. Unsigned copies may be ordered from the publisher, Friesen Press ($14,99 plus shipping, set-up, and handling) or on Amazon ($18.99plus). Praise for GRAMPA'S WINGS:
"...a fluidly written children's book that engages both parent and child in a reflection of the life cycle. The book is finely crafted and uniquely sensitive. There is plenty of space between the lines for differing beliefs among differing cultural backgrounds." ~Director of Service Learning, Sacred Heart University "...t.he first book that I have read that talks about the hardest subject that everyone has to face at one time or another in their lives, Death. The author's insight into the subject and her recommendations at the end are not to be matched! It truly makes it FOR ALL AGES, BACKGROUNDS AND BELIEFS!" ~Parent of Pre-Teens "A great resource for those who accompany families with children through death and dying times of life. Grandpa's Wings is a mandatory tool in the toolbox of those guiding children through the mysteries of death. Ms. Porpora shares wonderful insights, comforting assurance, and sweet, innocent giggles in the details.". ~Spiritual Director, Lawrence, KS |
