We spent the day Friday remembering my husband's childhood friend, who passed away in May. While talking with his other friends and family, I realized (again) that we can never hide what is brightest and best about our infinite spirit when it touches lives with love. Love is expressed in the simplest ways: making meals, sharing expertise, encouraging interests, debating different perspectives, showing up unannounced, and of course, laughing over little things. After someone dies, we have opportunities to see them more clearly than we did during their life. We open our hearts to how others experienced quirks, interests, love, and laughter with a loved one, friend, or colleague. We may realize how limited our perceptions are in this time and place. The new connections we make to someone's life when we share memories give us a glimpse into how large our Spirits are, even contained in this finite body. We may recognize how all of us are angels here and now. Our wings may be a memory, but we all fly higher when we love and laugh together.
